These past few weeks.

Sorry for the long wait. But what can I say our internet refuses to work in my house at the moment and so I am only able to work on my blog in between classes.
Anyhow, these past three weeks haven’t been very busy although I do have some notable moments that I would like to share.
To begin last week in Science/Chimie, I dissected two pig eyes. This activity was supposedly to help us truly understand the structure of an eye (which we have been studying for the past two weeks) but I think that for most of my classmates it just made us queasy for lunch.
Another thing that is new in my life is that due to my personal initiative I am now attending an Italian class here in my school for three hours a week. Unfortunately two of these hours happen to befirst thing in the morning which means I have to get up 45 minutes earlier, but this does not matter for me. Nope it does not bother me one bit, as it is my favorite classes and I truly enjoy learning all these new words and phrases in yet another language. I am however in 3rd year Italian, making it slightly difficult to keep up with the class when it comes to making phrases, although, I do find that I am one of the bests when it comes to hearing comprehension (probably because it sound so much like Spanish).
And yet another class I have added is Math, for one hour a week on Mondays. This class is extremely different from all my other classes because it has nothing to do with languages and above all there are boys! Hold on let me explain a moment why the fact that there are boys is so strange.
Well this is because in all my other classes that I take I am either with the students in Premier Literature or Premier Economics. In both these classes there is about a 12 to 1 ratio of boys to girls. Or in other words in a class of 32 there are three boys. However my math class happens to be with students from Premier Scientific/ Engineering in which there is only one other girl .And you wouldn’t think that having a class of mostly boys rather than girls would make a big difference but it does. For example there is no chitter chatter or gossip going around during the course. Instead it is almost silent and when they do talk it is chaotic.
Anyways, to finish my report on my school activities I must inform you that I did in fact remove a class; theater. This is mainly because if I don’t take theater then every fifteen days I am able to sleep in! And sleeping is something I really need after having a Rotary Meeting that goes until midnight the night before or a school day that lasts 10 hours..
So yesterday, for the first time I got the day off ! And due to this I was able to help my host family by watching the children until noon when the mother finishes work. YAY for a bit of rest :)
Now to my French. Ok so I have been monumentally improving my comprehension of the language. For I am now able to understand almost any conversation, completely follow and enjoy a film (sans subtitles) and write down what the teacher dictates at a speed faster than some of my other French classmates.
I also last night reached another level in mastering the language; I woke up in the middle of the night after having my first dream in which I was clearly speaking French!!!!! This signifies that my brain is finally able to subconsciously transfer from English or Spanish to French!
Well that’s it for now.
Hope everyone is enjoying their week so far and I will try to post about my recent trip to
Normandie and LE MONT SAINT MICHELE as soon as I can.
A tres bientot
- Juli
